Communitas Giving Day is the one day each year when we unapologetically ask our ministry partners and friends around the world to consider joining us in funding. Launched in 2014, each year Communitas has experienced God’s generosity to our field workers and global projects. Our efforts depend on the generosity of our ministry partners to help us stay focused on the work God has called us to. Giving Day provides us a platform to condense a great deal of our ministry partner development into a single event. There is really nothing special about the day other than it being a day dedicated to giving to God's work through our movement around the world.
Giving Day is Thursday, October 16, 2025.
On this day, hundreds of people around the world will be participating. And we want you to be a part of it too. This is as simple as reaching out to people you know and inviting them to join in.
Communitas sends out reminder emails 5 weeks ahead of Giving Day. Check your inbox and follow the directives on this webpage for communication with your Ministry Partners.
1. First off, look over your most recent 13 Month Report.
2. Also, consider contacting the types of people found in the list below:
Regular monthly donors. Ask them to consider making a 13th gift.
Annual donors. Giving Day is a great time to plan to make that gift.
‘Intend-to’ donors - those who have said they plan to support you but have never gotten started.
Prayer supporters.
Prospective donors - those you have been meaning to ask but haven’t.
The 13-Month Report is an overview of your ministry partners’ giving patterns over the previous 13 months. The table includes their contact info as well as monthly and yearly giving averages and other information that is helpful when planning for your future.

Your ministry partners can go to your Ministry Page on the Go Communitas website. They can also go to the DONATE page to see how to give by check, etc.
The key strategies in Steve Shadrach’s book The God Ask also apply to planning for Giving Day. Check out this article highlighting the 5 Keys to MPD.

Dave Dickens, Campus Ministry MPD Director, asked his MPD coaches from around the country and in various ministries to identify what they thought were the top 10 key beliefs or attitudes that staff members need to have to be successful in Ministry Partner Development. Here is what they came up with:
The Lord desires to meet all your needs.
MPD is a process, not an event.
People need to be given the opportunity to invest in the Great Commission.
People want to give, they just need to be asked.
People give to the Lord and not to you. You are not begging for money.
MPD is a Biblical process.
MPD is a spiritual activity and a way for you to minister to others.
MPD needs to be done in community.
Satan is opposed to you being at full support.
People giving to your ministry is one of the best investments they can make.
Take some time to reflect on these truths and speak with God about those that challenge you the most.
Take time for MPD
"I often find myself having a guilty conscience because I have the feeling that I should do more. But I just don't have the time!" – How much time do I actually need for MPD?
As a rule of thumb, 10% of the working time is needed to care for your existing mission partners. But how does that look like in practice?
There are always times when our ministry is hectic and times when it runs more smoothly. What helps is creating habits to stick to. If you send a message, letter or a text to a mission partner every morning before you open your computer, it quickly becomes a good habit.
MPD is a fundamental part of your ministry that builds the Kingdom of God. Be generous to set aside time for it. In an organisation, it helps to develop a culture where time is explicitly given to MPD. If this is not the case, get a colleague to do it with you on a weekly basis. If you are not allowed to do it, talk to your leaders.
Tip: Don't pray for finances or rich donors, but for the right ministry partners. It's so much more fun and it's much easier if you just get along or would meet anyway.
